About us

We are a duo of game developers, based in the Netherlands, dedicated to developing great games for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android and Windows Phone. Akarus was founded in 2011. Our goal is simple: to create high quality games, that are fun.

About the name and logo

Although we initially chose the name Akarus because it just sounded right to us, we were also somewhat inspired when we found out that the ancient Egyptian deification of the horizon was called Akar.

As the horizon, Akar was seen as symbolic of the borders between each day. Since the horizon was where night became day, Akar was said to guard the entrance and exit to the underworld, opening them for the sun to pass through during the night.
